Support The Parative Project Working for Human Trafficking Victims

The Parative Project is working to eradicate human trafficking and help the victims by making T-shirts and other fashion items. They are raising money on Kickstarter. Recently I caught up with Drew Oxley to learn more about the effort; here’s what he told me:

What is the social benefit you hope to achieve with or through your crowdfunding campaign?

The Parative Project is a social enterprise whose merchandise and apparel aims to spark conversations around human trafficking and spread messages of hope and inspiration. If our Kickstarter is successfully funded, we will move production of our t-shirts, bags and flags to India, in partnership with The Aruna Project and Freeset, providing much-needed employment opportunities to women and girls who have been empowered out of human trafficking.

parative on Instagram “Three weeks left in 2013. What dream are you going to start before all the New Years resolutions theparativeproject”

How much money are you hoping to raise and why? How much have you raised so far?

We are hoping to raise $20,000. The money will be used to take production of our merchandise over to India to provide jobs to women who have been empowered out of the human trafficking system. Additionally, we’ll use the funds to spread the word about The Parative Project to more people, sparking more conversation about human trafficking nationally, connecting people here in the US with those women in South Asia, and driving more orders, which will provide more work to those women.

Whom are you trying to help with your project and why?

We are on a mission to spark conversation about human trafficking on a global scale. There are upwards of 21 million people across the world currently being trafficked. With the success of this Kickstarter, The Parative Project will become an agent of change and empowerment, providing messages of home and inspiration along with sustainable employment to women who have been empowered out of the system. Research and experience have shown that steady employment provides a safe and secure environment for those women to build new lives, regain dignity in their communities and begin a journey toward healing and wholeness, preventing them from falling back into a system they were recently empowered to leave.

What rewards, if any, are you offering to your supporters?

We are offering a variety of rewards at different support levels. Some rewards include greeting cards, t-shirts, flags, tote bags, an Instagram takeover and a trip to India to see the impact The Parative Project, along with Freeset and The Aruna Project, have made in the community.

Woodford Patient Capital Trust And Augmentum Capital Lead £10 Million Investment Round Into Equity Crowdfunder Seedrs

  • Woodford Patient Capital Trust and Augmentum Capital invest £7.5 million into Seedrs, one of the world’s leading equity crowdfunding platforms
  • A further £2.5 million will be offered to existing shareholders and the crowds through a campaign on the Seedrs platform
  • The investment round values Seedrs at £30 million
  • Seedrs will use the capital to expand its marketing efforts in the UK and Europe, increase platform development activities and launch its business in the United States

London, 30 July 2015 – Seedrs, one of the world’s leading equity crowdfunding platforms, has announced a £10 million Series A fundraising round led by Woodford Patient Capital Trust plc (WPCT) and Augmentum Capital.

WPCT is the £800 million investment trust launched earlier this year by Woodford Investment Management. WPCT is managed by Neil Woodford, widely considered to be one of the UK’s leading fund managers over the past 25 years. The trust invests mainly in early-stage and early-growth companies but also has exposure to some blue-chip companies.

Augmentum Capital is a venture capital firm founded in 2009 by two highly-experienced entrepreneurs and investors, Tim Levene and Richard Matthews. It backs entrepreneurs and businesses it believes have the potential to become leaders in their industries. Its first fund, Augmentum I LP, which is making the investment in Seedrs, is wholly backed by RIT Capital Partners plc, the award-winning FTSE investment trust chaired by Lord Rothschild, whose family own 18% of RIT’s shares.

In addition to the investment from WPCT and Augmentum, Seedrs will conduct a £2.5 million crowdfunding campaign to give existing shareholders and new investors the opportunity to participate. Details of the crowdfunding campaign will be announced shortly.

The fundraising round values Seedrs at £30 million on a fully-diluted, post-money basis. Tim Levene, Managing Partner of Augmentum, is joining the Seedrs Board of Directors in connection with the round.

Seedrs will use the capital raised in this fundraising round to expand significantly its marketing efforts in the UK and Europe and its platform development activities. It will also use the funds to expand into the United States following its acquisition of California-based Junction Investments, Inc., in late 2014.

Speaking about the round:

  • Tim Levene, Managing Partner, Augmentum Capital, said: “We have been following the developments in equity crowdfunding for some time and believe Seedrs are the stand out company. The market is still early in its development with many challenges to overcome. However, we believe Seedrs have the right blend of talent, vision, experience and rigour to ensure they become the leader in this exciting space.
“As a fund we’ve already made a number of investments in alternative finance businesses such as Zopa, Interactive Investor, Borro and BullionVault. Seedrs further strengthens our portfolio in this area and marks us out as one of the UK’s leading fintech funds.”
  • Jeff Lynn, CEO and co-founder of Seedrs, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have Woodford and Augmentum leading this investment round in Seedrs. The capital we are raising will allow us to deliver our next stage of growth in the UK, Europe and the United States. As importantly, though, is the signal this investment sends to the market. The greatest fund manager of our time and the greatest financial family in history have looked at the equity crowdfunding space, decided that there is a huge opportunity to be won, and decided that Seedrs is the one that’s going to win it. We are honoured to have both investors on board, we look forward to working with them as we continue to grow.”

This fundraising round marks another major achievement for Seedrs and follows on a string of recent accomplishments and successes, including among others:

  • Growing ata rate of 15% month-on-month
  • Being named by a KPMG-led group asone of the world’s 50 best fintech innovators*
  • Entering a strategic partnership with tennis champion Andy Murray**
  • Being appointed funding partner for the Welsh government’s £20 million business growth programme***
  • Joining forces with fund manager Braveheart Investment Group plc as they moved their innovative crowdfunding fund from another platform to Seedrs****

The fundraising round remains subject to consent by the Financial Conduct Authority and customary closing conditions.

Announcing New “Shop Without Money™” E-commerce Kickstarter Campaign Launches For Radical Web Invention

July 20, 2015, Red Bank, NJ – Pollytix®, a social benefit company, announces its North America crowd-fund campaign on Kickstarter.com beginning July 20, 2015, to help launch its radically new online marketplace called TreasureCircle.com. Redefining what e-commerce is, it helps society by making freedom from the use of money, a shopping reality. Its “Shop Without Money”™ service gives people a new way to shop by creating their own group of people or “Circle,” to receive or give-away unwanted consumer goods they own, in a new culture called the “Circular Economy”.

298-logo

Starting July 20th, Pollytix® is accepting public contributions through the site Kickstarter.com to help fund the completion and successful launch of Treasure Circle™ in the fall of 2015.

The Kickstarter.com campaign direct link is:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pollytix/shop-without-moneytm-with-treasurecirclecom

According to Mr. Larotonda, “Pollytix® looks to build a sense of community that many want today. People wish for a better economy and lifestyle that they can be a part of. The environment needs more friends. With TreasureCircle.com, the simple act of shopping will make it happen.”

TreasureCircle.com helps anyone with unwanted or unneeded items due to many familiar situations such as; years of clutter in the home, relocation, a storage unit that needs to be emptied, or if it’s simply time to lighten the material possessions in your life. Unlike barter, these Treasure Circle™ things are freely given to others with a “Pay it Forward” ethic, while one can receive things just as easy, without using money and could be as local as one’s neighborhood.

How exactly does TreasureCircle.com work? Shop easily, safely and conveniently.

  • Sign up, or start with a free trial and create your confidential profile
  • Find other Treasure Circle™ users and invite them to join you in your own safe circle for money free shopping. You can also invite a nonprofit organization.
  • View existing offers for items available to you, or to all users
  • List your items that you wish to give away
  • Communicate with other TreasureCircle.com users to arrange pickup of an item
  • Return to website and look for more item giving or receiving opportunities

The Circular Economy is new business thinking in the world, that addresses the reality of a global population that is using more energy and raw materials for its needs than it can soon replace. Buying sustainable or green often hides the one-way trip of consumer goods from factories to people to the landfill. Recycling saves some materials but also uses energy, while a surge of people’s idle and excess consumer goods is feeding a booming self-storage industry. “Going Circular” is the round trip that our civilization needs to take, where goods can be used over and over again in a circular flow of materials and energy that reduces waste while creating jobs. TreasureCircle.com™ leads the circular ideal with a new e-commerce by giving people a simple way to recirculate the things they don’t need, and shop for the things they do, by removing the middleman, “money” from the transaction. Hence, it’s slogan “Shop Without Money™”. TreasureCircle.com stays in motion from a small supporter’s membership and people benefit from unlimited transactions on its website.

About Treasure Circle™

TreasureCircle.com™ is invented by Pollytix®, a company whose mission is to help the nonprofit community and the people who work and volunteer for them. It offers the Shop Without Money™ service to liberate people from the crushing dependency and economic divide that money is bringing to our global society. Through Treasure Circle™, Pollytix® aims to create a lifestyle that builds ones wealth, helps the environment, creates jobs and supports a culture where people are able to give of themselves for the benefit of all. The technology behind TreasureCircle.com is patent pending.

About Pollytix®

Pollytix® was founded in 2012 by Alberto Larotonda, a veteran of the environmental, education and IT professions and citizen activist, who together with a team of dedicated volunteer professionals of all walks of life are building New Jersey’s first “Benefit Corporation”, a new legal form of for-profit company that has a nonprofit cause. Pollytix Benefit Corporation is built upon the practice of “social enterprise”, a new wave of businesses whose missions are to directly help society by using business methods.

Introducing the Revlon LOVE IS ON Million Dollar Challenge

Revlon to Ignite Donations for Women’s Health Initiatives through Fundraising Competition

July 30, 2015 (New York, NY) – Revlon announced today the second phase of its new philanthropic platform designed to have a greater impact on women’s health initiatives with the Revlon LOVE IS ON Million Dollar Challenge. The Revlon LOVE IS ON Million Dollar Challenge is inviting charities dedicated to three leading health issues facing women today — women’s cancers, heart disease, and diabetes — to participate in an online fundraising challenge. The charity that raises the most donations for their cause over the course of six weeks will win an additional $1 million donation from Revlon. While the challenge will kick-off on September 21, 2015, the application for charity entrants goes live today.

To host this fund-raising challenge, Revlon is partnering with CrowdRise, the leading site for charitable crowdfunding. The Revlon LOVE IS ON Million Dollar Challenge is the biggest challenge award in CrowdRise’s history.

“It is Revlon’s mission to inspire positivity and love. With this challenge, we want to encourage the public to show their love for these critical women’s health initiatives that have a direct impact on women’s lives,” said Lorenzo Delpani, CEO of Revlon. “We hope this challenge will not only ignite the passion that the public has for their favorite causes, but empower a diverse group of non-profits that are making a real difference in women’s lives,” added Delpani.

“We are excited to enter this innovative, new realm of fundraising,” said Victoria Ashley, Head of Global Public Relations for Revlon. “CrowdRise’s reputation for being the leader in this modern philanthropic space made them the perfect choice to help us expand our charitable reach.”

Eligibility

Starting today through October 5, charities dedicated to the selected causes can complete an online application at https://www.crowdrise.com/revlonchallenge for a chance to compete. The participating charities will be announced on a rolling basis.

In order to participate in the Revlon LOVE IS ON Million Dollar Challenge, charitable organizations must have non-profit 501(c)(3) status with a mission to better women’s lives and fall into one of the three select women’s health initiative pillars identified by Revlon: Women’s Cancers, Heart Disease and Diabetes. As part of the application, organizations must include a statement on how they will spread LOVE for their cause.

Competition

When the Revlon LOVE IS ON Million Dollar Challenge kicks off on September 21, participating charities will begin tapping their supporter networks to ignite donations, and help them continuously fundraise throughout the six weeks. Passionate consumers can show their love for their favorite cause in a few ways: directly donating to their chosen charity through the Revlon challenge homepage, setting up a personal fundraising page on CrowdRise and linking to their beloved charity, and encouraging others to join their crusade by sharing on their social media channels.

The Prize

In addition to the $1 million grand prize, Revlon will be making a $250,000 donation to the runner-up. There will also be additional prizes distributed throughout the challenge to add to the excitement of the competition. The winner of the Revlon LOVE IS ON Million Dollar Challenge will be announced later this year.

The Equity Crowdfunding Platform Cadia Startup Exchange Goes Public with IPO for Unaccredited Investors

World’s first equity crowdfunding platform with a fully-automated 24/7 secondary market Cadia Startup Exchange began trading under the symbol CADSE with a share price of 0,47€ by offering 80 million shares. Unaccredited investors worldwide can become shareholders of the platform with voting and pre-emption rights.

cadia-startup-exchange-goes-public

Crowdfunding enthusiasts, venture capitalists, angel investors, and unaccredited investors who are in constant search of exciting new ventures and innovative projects with a high ROI have a new opportunity. The equity crowdfunding platform Cadia Startup Exchange has launched its secondary market campaign and unprecedentedly opened the market for unaccredited investors worldwide.

The company officially launched operations at the beginning of 2015 by adding to the equity crowfunding business model a fully-automated secondary market. In this way startup projects and small businesses listed on the platform are enabled to be as close as possible to having a real IPO. Cadia Startup Exchange puts on the table the earliest possible exit from a startup investment as investors can sell their shares any time they find a bid. There are numerous benefits for all parties involved: creating an account is free of charge, free listing for startups, due diligence and careful project valuation, voting rights for investors, protection of investments by proficient supervisors, monthly/quarterly publishing of accounting reports, simple upload and withdrawal of money, 24/7 customer support with live chat and many more.

“This was not a one-night project,” said Jure Valant, Founder & CEO of Cadia Startup Exchange. “The idea of creating an equity crowdfunding platform with a fully-automated secondary market came up years before crowdfunding became the giant that it is today. Initially it was not a global project. I wanted to facilitate the needs of my shareholders back then by creating an online solution specifically for them in order to enable them to trade shares between each other. As you see today, the idea grew and we are doing something much more significant which can help numerous businesses worldwide gain popularity and raise capital. And most importantly, the platform is open for unaccredited investors from all over the world.”

Cadia Startup Exchange gives a lead to the rest of the world by offering its own shares on the secondary market. Non-registered website users can view basic description, equity offered, number of shares and share price. Full company information, business plan, financial projections, news and comments becomes available on creating an account. In order to play on the secondary market investors need to go through a fast and simple verification process and upload the required minimum amount of 100€.

Unaccredited investors globally can become active participants in the revolutionary growth of the phenomenon of crowdfunding and enjoy ROI from the skyrocketing financial projections for the near future. Up until today, these earnings would grow the bank accounts only of crowdfunding platform owners leaving the rest outside of the game. Today it is open for the general public. To explore the offerings register at cadiase.com.

RE-volv Leverages Crowdfunding To Light The US With Solar

Andreas Karela is on to something. And people are lining up to support his work.

Andreas explains, “RE-volv connects community-serving organizations seeking ways to finance solar projects with community members looking for ways to take action on climate change and support clean energy in their community.”

“While 91% of Americans support solar development, solar produces less than 1% of the country’s electricity. RE-volv’s main goal is to involve as many people as possible in building a clean energy future, empowering people to solve the climate crisis by taking collective action locally,” he adds.

Andreas reports, “RE-volv’s three solar projects to date have been crowdfunded by nearly 1,000 donors from 38 states and 22 countries. This shows that people everywhere are eager to support a revolving fund for community-based solar energy.”
“After winning the OpenIDEO Renewable Energy Challenge, RE-volv received a $50,000 grant from the 11th Hour Project of the Schmidt Family Foundation which will be used exclusively to fund solar projects. The funding will be used to match RE-volv’s crowdfunding efforts dollar for dollar, allowing RE-volv supporters to double their impact,” he continued.

“When RE-volv has financed 200 solar energy projects, the lease payments from those projects will build a new solar project every month without needed to raise another dollar,” he conlcuded.

On Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 2:00 Eastern, Andreas will join me for a live discussion about his efforts to increase solar using crowdfunding. Tune in here then to watch the interview live. Post questions in the comments below or tweet questions before the interview to @devindthorpe.

More about RE-volv:

Twitter: @RE-volv

RE-volv is a nonprofit organization with a mission to empower people and communities to invest collectively in renewable energy. Through crowdfunding, RE-volv lets individuals who support clean energy chip in a few dollars to help create solar powered communities around the United States.RE-volv provides solar financing to community-based nonprofits and cooperatives around the country without access to traditional solar finance. These organizations save money on their electric costs while paying RE-volv back through a 20-year lease with interest. The lease payments are reinvested in a revolving fund, the Solar Seed Fund, which continually finances community-based solar projects. Over time, each dollar donated to an individual solar project will help finance two or more solar projects in other communities. We want to see people-funded renewable energy in every community across the country. That’s why we started this pay-it-forward model for solar energy: so every donation can go further, build more solar, and strengthen more communities around the United States.

CodersTrust Launches Indiegogo Campaign for Free IT Education in Nepal

CodersTrust is raising money on Indiegogo to provide Free IT education in Nepal after the earthquake. Recently, we connected with Shanel Dawson to learn more about the effort; here what he told us.

What is the social benefit you hope to achieve with or through your crowdfunding campaign?

In response to the recent devastating earthquakes in Nepal, Coders Trust is mobilizing their resources to provide free IT education for up to 1,000 Nepalese students around Kathmandu and also in the Bhaktapur region. Students accepted into the Nepal program will learn skills from basic data entry to front-end web development and advanced teaching and expertise to jump-start their own freelance careers on freelance job portals including Upwork.com. Ultimately, students in front-end web development may earn up to $12 per hour after five months of training.

Compared to the cost of an advanced education in the developed world, it costs relatively little money to learn a skill in the under-developed world that can act as a catapult to a more secure life.

ulufcim3xveyk9gfbxyi

How much money are you hoping to raise and why? How much have you raised so far?

An indiegogo page is now established to help defray program costs. The goal is $40,000 to be raised by August 31, 2015. Over the past 2 days Coderstrust has raised $2,820. In 3 months, CodersTrust plans to impact the lives of approximately 1000 people in Nepal with the proper funding. The students enrolled in the training will receive the tool to start earning $ 2/3 per hour after 3/4 months of constant practice. This is a lot of money for people who are used to earn $1/2 a day.

Coderstrust will help the students finding jobs with a dedicated team of bidders who will look for jobs on the freelance portals such as Upwork.com. The goal is set up a tent to train the students, and show that wherever you are, if you are connected to the Internet, you can Learn & Earn, borderless.

Furthermore, monsoon season is approaching in Nepal so plans may change and Coderstrust may go for renting a room that can better protect students and equipment.

Whom are you trying to help with your project and why?

Coderstrust is trying to help the Nepalese community. On April 25th, Nepal experienced a devastating earthquake that took the lives of more than 8000 people and have left thousands more injured and homeless.

Along with world heritage sites, several schools, colleges and offices have been destroyed, leaving the Nepalese people feeling hopeless and void. Coderstrust won’t bring food or supplies, but what they will bring is the most essential tool: education.

What rewards, if any, are you offering to your supporters?

  • At $50, you can hire their students if your business needs 1000 data entry jobs. Contact Coderstrust for more information!
  • At $100, you will get your name printed on the walls of the classroom!
  • Donate $500 and receive a responsive Front-End Website designed by on of the students that you supported! Also meet thirclass. We will set up a Skype call with all the students and you. They deserve to know who sponsored their education!
  • Donate $5000 and you are impacting the future of more than 100 students, providing them with all the necessary equipment and support to enter the global job market. You or a classroom of your choice get a Q&A session with their CEO and Co-Founder Ferdinand Kjaerulff. Their students will create for you a well designed webpage and will also sign 10 unique T-Shirt for you and your friends.
  • Donate $20,000 and you the chance to be featured in the video Coderstrust will produce at the end of the campaign + a personal video conference with their Chairman Morten Lund (first investor of Skype).

Girls Overcome Poverty to Send Poor Girls to High School

Create Change Foundation is working to educate girls in Ghana coming from extreme poverty. Now, these educated girls want to send more girls to high school in Ghana. In order to make it happen, they are raising money on Indiegogo. Recently, we connected with Shannen O’brian to learn about the effort; here’s what she told us.

What is the social benefit you hope to achieve with or through your crowdfunding campaign?

This campaign, is groundbreaking as we are girls who have come from extreme poverty, overcome the odds and are now using crowdfunding to give other girls in Northern Ghana the chance to attend senior high school.  We are recent high school graduates ourselves, and were able to graduate because we were sponsored through Create Change Foundation by people just like you.  Now it’s our turn to do what we can to help the younger girls have the same chance we’ve received.

wee4kdj8ocr3cs1q8iuj

How much money are you hoping to raise and why? How much have you raised so far?

We are hoping to raise 45,000 and we just launched today! We hope to support as many girls to school as possible, so any additional contributions will go towards sending additional girls to school.

Whom are you trying to help with your project and why?

We know the difference that attending high school has made in our lives, and we want to extend this opportunity to as many young  girls as we can.  We know all too well the alternative, to get married, have children at a young age, and to continue the cycle of poverty.  We will have hundreds of girls and their mothers lining up outside our office by the end of August, and we want to be able to help as many girls as we can to continue their education.

Philanthropist, Master Channeler And Medium Maureen Allan Launches Angels Among Us Foundation

Foundation Focuses on Devastation and Extreme Poverty in Third World Countries;

Kick-off Fundraiser is on Thursday, August 13, 2015 to Benefit Children of India

unnamed (1)

(Laguna Beach, CA) – Maureen Allan, a Laguna Beach-based philanthropist, spiritual teacher, master channeler and medium, announces the launch of Angels Among Us Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, and date for the organization’s first fundraiser on August 13, 2015 in Laguna Beach. Allan helps individuals find peace and closure by connecting them with loved ones who have passed on, as well as providing personal guidance by channeling insightful messages from their spirit-guides and guardian angels.

Allan was inspired to create Angels Among Us Foundation from pure divine intervention from her spirit-guide Ascended Master Kuan Yin. “I was being shown countless visions by my spirit guide Kuan Yin of the atrocious living conditions that the children in these areas are suffering in,” explains Allan. “I could feel the physical pain of their illnesses and the emotional pain of their suffering and hopelessness. Kuan Yin pleaded with me to help, and I gladly agreed to do what I could do to help them; and, as she also wished, to inspire others to help.”

Kuan Yin has given her two locations that are in dire need of her help: Bihar, India and Darfur, Africa. The charity’s first fundraiser will be for the children of Bihar, India where the conditions are some of the worst in the world. It will take place at the Laguna Beach home of Kim and Ari Novick, and a donation of $150 will go directly to the crowd-funding campaign Allan set up on CrowdRise. Included in the event will be a group channeling session and reading by Maureen where guests will receive messages from loved ones who have passed on. The event is open to the public, and to get tickets, please contact AngelsAmongUsFoundation@aol.com or call 949-715-6788. Seating is very limited.

“I am extremely happy to be of service through Angels Among Us Foundation, and look forward to the gift of relief that this charity can bring to those who truly need it,” remarks Allan.

About Maureen Allan

Maureen has been working professionally for more than eleven years and is available for readings remotely via telephone, Skype, and in person for groups and events and classes. She has helped thousands of people internationally through readings, classes, workshops, healings, spiritual events, ghost clearings, radio broadcasts, and missing person and other investigative work. As a master level channeler, Maureen’s highly-tuned abilities allow her to help you connect with your loved ones passed on, by delivering their loving and healing messages. She is also able to communicate insightful guidance from your spirit guides and guardian angels to help you with your choices along your path. Angels Among Us Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable foundation dedicated to helping those suffering with extreme and heart-breaking hardships, such as poverty, starvation and dis-heartening abuses. One of the charity’s primary goals is to bring relief to those suffering in dire living conditions in third world countries, with a special focus on the abandoned, abused and starving children. Angels Among Us Foundation hopes to bring awareness of this sad, atrocious reality to those here in the United States; and, to raise funds that can improve the well-being, health and quality of life for those who have been devastated due to the on going wars and violence that threaten them on a regular basis in our under-privileged third world communities.

With 20 years of experience in the airline industry, Vijay is past president of the Airline Operators Association of Nepal and a member of the government Civil Aviation Authority. According to Shrestha “Coders Trust has created a successful footprint in Bangladesh with our core program with more than 500 students in the program since our launch there in June 2014. With help from our mentoring and training many students earn up to $200 per month with no prior IT experience. We expect the same results with our non-profit efforts in Nepal.”
