Linkedin: PFPO Pens for Pals Organization

Press Release – We are a 501(C)(3) Nonprofit PFPO Pens for Pals Organization, and we are here to build the future and a brighter world by working with thousands of other nonprofits, organizations, programs, businesses, services, and resources to either provide programs, create solutions or use already proven effective solutions to the nations leading tragedy’s. Some of the issues we will provide solutions to include helping to end hunger, homelessness, education, transitional housing, disaster relief, rebuild, and sustainability, mental health, veterans, suicide prevention, human and sex trafficking, education, and thousands of other needs that have yet to be addressed on a national level and in this fashion.

We are promising a nationwide positive change in 2018, by building BRIGHT Community Centers in every state, beginning with the very first one in Austin, Texas: TCC- Texas Community Center. Working together and partnering with as many organizations in our community, and your community that are passionate about bringing a the changes that we need to every family and person, we will work together to bring you and literally create programs and solutions that are proven effective or have not yet been created; all in one campus.

The solutions and resources we will provide by working with thousands of companies, programs, organizations, and businesses as a devoted team, will bring us together and united we will spread our resources and organizations nationally to help millions of people each day with as many needs as possible.

Each campus will be self-sustainable, have hundreds of suites, a warehouse, transitional housing, and hundreds of programs that will be replicated in every state., while always allowing others to join our family and grow with us. This is great news for smaller but effective programs or solutions that are only available in one city or state; we will give them the opportunity to have a suite to replicate their organization in as many states or cities that they would like.

This is fantastic news for everyone in the nation! You will no longer have to drive all over town to gain access to resources, learn a trade, become certified, attend classes, take a hot shower, have a hot meal, transition into society, gain disaster relief and distribution, or get the support and services you deserve because we bring them all to you in each all-inclusive campus.

Funding/ Investors:

All funds will be used to build campuses across the nation with programs and solutions being replicated in every community with organizations that would like to offer their programs or resources on a larger scale. Programs will be replicated, each organization or business will have its own suite in each community center. We will build the first campus in Austin, Texas. It will include a warehouse, a campus, and transitional housing, and suites that organizations will rent. We estimate that we will need $650,000.00 to buy the land and build the first center on. Once the first community center has been created, we will work with every nonprofit, organization or business and offer them a suite in other locations to replicate their program or solution on a national level.

Who We Are:

PFPO Pens for Pals Organization currently offers several programs to provide solutions to leading issues, such as disaster relief, rebuild, sustainability and, warehousing and distribution to any tragedy every day on a national level. Some of our other programs address suicide prevention, mental health, and one of our newest programs; The Suit Case. This particular program provides suits to men that are trying to become gainfully employed, and/or have recently been transitioned back into society after incarceration. We also provide training, education, ECL and a variety of other classes to help men become certified in a trade. We work with Dress for Success on a client referral level and The Suit Case follows their business model. We are partnered with the University of Texas School of Law, Yellow Ribbon, and Christian Compassion Center (or C3).

We will call our community centers BRIGHT Community Centers (BCC), and the first all inclusive campus will be named Texas Community Center, or TCC. Each campus will house hundreds of organizations, programs, or solutions to offer thier unique services and resources in conjunction with the organizations that we are already partnered or working with. We will incorporate an online college, a library, provide food, clothing, and hot showers to the hungry and homeless, disaster relief through our warehouse on the campus, and as many other programs that we can either incorporate, partner with, support, work together with, or create our own solutions to. Any and all programs or organizations that would like to see thier organization or programs replicated, have the national availability to rent a suite in any city or state. There is no limit to how many suites each organization or program can rent.

As partners, we are joined together as a team to build our campuses.

If there is a program that works in one state, and we can prove that it will be a solution to an issue in another state, we will offer that program a suite at as many campuses as they would like to provide thier services to in each community.

As a team, working with so many other nonprofits, organizations, and businesses, we all share a common interest in designing the first ever all-in-one or one stop shop for all of a communities most underserved needs. We will save money by utilizing our resources to build each campus and will partner and work closely with hundreds of businesses or organizations that would like to support us on a national level or provide products or services. This all-inclusive solution to the nations and each community greatest needs has never been done before. This is a solution to tens of thousands of needs that are not being met or addressed and we are united in building this and future campuses. They will expand often and we will stay focused on the most current or proven techniques, programs, and solutions. We want everyone to thrive and everyone to have an equal and fair opportunity to get the services they need and deserve without having to drive all over town.

We we be connected with each campus nationally and be the change that we want to see in the world, working with passionate organizations and businesses that want to help us provide the positive changes we need to deliver to families and individuals in every state.

Because we are building national campuses, we are able to achieve more, rather then allowing this to become a franchise. We want to build a brighter future for everyone and for society and this is our solution to so many needs at one location. We believe that we are bringing the positive changes we need to each and every BRIGHT Community Center and each community it serves.

Backers/ Supporters:

Each backer, investor, supporter, or donor will be given the opportunity to explain how much or little they would like to be involved. We will offer discounted suite rates to organizations, nonprofits and businesses that help us achieve our goal of building the very first BRIGHT Community Center, TCC. We are open to most reasonable opportunity and rewards, such as partnering, offering potential board chairs, partnerships, allowing a specific business to be the official supplier of any of our needs to build our campuses nationally. We look forward to working with so many and being able to serve millions of people everyday. We are most grateful for every single supporter, investor, donor, and backer. Thank you very much for entrusting us to be the change we want to see in the world!

Wave, The Geolocation Mobile App, Used By Over 11 Million Users, Hits An Overfunded Status On Their Campaign In First Week

After a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2016, the popular geolocation app is back for a second time on the UK’s very own equity crowdfunding site Crowdcube.

Press Release – Manuel de la Esperanza and Luis Gelado, the co-founders of Wave, started the new crowdfunding campaign with dreams of hitting £500,000, but thanks to the support of their unconditional fans, the business angels and investors who trust them, they hit their initial target in the first day of it going live, and have, since they started, already raised an incredible £669,000, which is 133% overfunded.

The app was praised, in their 2016 run, for their transparency and continuous devotion to investors.

But what lead to the two co-founders making the app?

“The idea of Wave arose from a real circumstance, where both myself, and Luis, waited at a meeting for a partner who did not arrive.” – Manuel De La Esperanza

“He was riding a motorcycle, so he could not communicate, meaning we did not know his location and the reason for his delay. That was the moment we started asking ourselves, ‘Why has no one solved the where are you question?’” – Luis Gelado

“And so Wave was born. Thanks to Wave, this does not have to happen again as the application puts technology as an ally in the service of real life, facilitating meetings between people.” – Manuel De La Esperanza

Now that the geo-location market has become more saturated, the team at Wave have a new challenge: to continue developing new features, to follow the precision of technology, and to, most importantly, give the best service of all it’s competitors. It is a challenge, but it‘s possible.

The mobile app, which enables it’s 11 million+ users to share their live location in real time, in a private map, for a limited time period, or, gives them to option to share for an unlimited period of time with the ones that matter to them the most, has 21 days left on the campaign.

The company has already signed Series A for €2 million, with international VC’s, so investors should be aware they would be co-investing. There are more details about this on their campaign page.

If you have questions about their crowdfunding campaign, would like to interview the team at Wave, or need additional material, they are happy to be contacted through the details below.

Olympic Speed Skater, Gold Medalist Applies Lessons To New Crypto Venture

This post was originally produced for Forbes.

You can download an audio podcast here or subscribe via iTunes or Google Play.

Just back from Korea where he served as an NBC commentator on the Winter Olympics, Apolo Ohno joined me for a discussion about skating and his new venture in cryptocurrencies.

Ohno, who won a total of eight medals, including two gold medals, as a short track speed skater in three Olympics, beginning with the 2002 games in my home town of Salt Lake City, worked as an NBC commentator for the first time in Sochi.

Of the just completed games in PyeongChang, he said, “The overall experience was phenomenal,” adding, “I feel blessed to be a part of them. I love going to the Olympics.”

Lately, Ohno has been putting his considerable energy into a new venture, HybridBlock, that plans to operate a three-tiered trading and content platform for cryptocurrency traders. The company expects to commence operations in April after completing an initial coin offering or ICO in March.

Ohno targets a total of $50 million in the raise. About half of that has been committed in pre-sales, Ohno says. The company has been in development for the past year and now has 35 employees in the New York, Santa Monica, California, Ukraine and Korea.

The site will start with educational materials to help novices better understand the market and basic tools for buying and selling cryptocurrencies. This first tier tool is called BaseTrade; it is intended to provide the easiest way for consumers to trade and store cryptocurrencies.

The second tier tool is called HybridExchange. Ohno says, it should be “the best way to transact with new digital currencies, including HybridBlock Token, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and select other utility tokens.”

The third tier tool is called HybridTrade. It should be a downloadable app that gives professional and institutional traders a platform similar to those used to trade other financial assets.

Ohno is passionate about the new venture and believes strongly that cryptocurrencies can enable solutions to world problems. He sees himself as a social entrepreneur, helping to educate people and hope to facilitate 100 million people joining the crypto economy.

For building this new venture, Ohno draws on lessons he learned as the world’s fastest short track speed skater.

He describes the number one takeaway from his athletic career as “the ability to adapt to an ever growing and ever-changing environment.”

Apolo Ohno
at the 2010 Stand Up To Cancer, Sony Studios, Culver City, CA

He notes that every four years he faced a “new generation of young athletes who are different, they’re faster, they’re stronger they’re better and you have to find ways to adapt.” He emphasized the need to win consistently.

“You’re always going to be thrown curveballs. You’re always going to have variables to change. You’re always going to get knocked down. How you respond is where the true definition of character really lies. ”

He applies these lessons to business. He notes, that businesses face challenges, too. He says it is important to “plan accordingly.”

“It’s just how do we always consistently get back up and always evolve so that we can win in the space,” he adds.

For fun, I asked Ohno about his “superpower.” He responded, “The only power that I have is I just work really, really, really hard. That’s ingrained in my DNA and that’s ingrained into our company. We understand that hard work is really the backbone behind all great success stories and we’re not afraid of it. ”

After 25 Crowdfunding Campaigns, ‘Persistence’ Is The Lesson

CaringCrowd® sponsors and the Your Mark on the World Center. CaringCrowd® is proudly sponsored by Johnson & Johnson.

Stephanie Bowers launched her nonprofit seven years ago after seeing mothers reusing disposable diapers in a struggling community in Peru. She really hit her stride after she found CaringCrowd and started crowdfunding for her organization. With 25 campaigns under her belt, she’s learned to ask for what she needs and to get what she asks for.

Preliminary Interview with Stephanie Bowers, the Founder of Jake’s Diapers.

The following is a brief pre-interview that provides context for the recorded interview you may watch or listen to at the top of this article.

Crowdfunding page:

What is the purpose of your crowdfunding campaign?

Living in extreme poverty, most Haitian mothers are forced to choose between food & diapers. This has devastating consequences not only for basic sanitation and hygiene, but also on the empowerment of mothers. Diapers are an overlooked, yet so crucial basic need.

This project will provide cloth diaper kits that contain a supply of cloth diapers to last from birth to potty training to Haitian mothers in need.

CaringCrowd(R) is a crowdfunding site 100% dedicated to global public health. Individuals who want to support public health can browse projects that need funding and make a pledge to help. Any 501(c)(3) non-profit can submit a project and funding goal for consideration on the platform. Then, submitted projects are reviewed by a team of advisors to ensure they fall within our definition of public health. This platform was created by Johnson & Johnson as a driver for collaboration on global public health, and as a new way to bring funding to organizations tackling key public health challenges on the ground.

Stephanie Bowers’s bio:

Stephanie Bowers believes no caregiver, near or far, should ever have to choose between food and diapers. In January of 2011, her life was changed forever when she found herself on a mission trip to Pachacutec, Peru. While there, she visited a childcare facility where she saw caregivers who loved the children very much, and were re-using disposable diapers because they had to choose between food & diapers. Inspired to help just those 15 babies, Jake’s Diapers has now impacted more than 7,000 lives in 20 countries.

Give Back, Reduce Student Debt: Shared Harvest Fund Launches A For-Purpose Social Impact Investment And Technology Platform That Is Dedicated To Eliminating Student Loan Debt Through Volunteer Projects

Company’s platform offers student debt relief, debt education, and cultivation of a volunteerism culture with its mission to repay $20 million in student loan debt by 2020

Press Release – LOS ANGELES, CA (March 5, 2018) – In response to the growing $1.3 trillion student loan debt crisis in the U.S., Shared Harvest Fund, (, is introducing practical, impactful, and sustainable opportunities for professionals saddled with student debt to pay back their loans.

According to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, about 44 million Americans are carrying some form of student loan debt. The new company has created a platform for skillful professionals to give back to impactful organizations by engaging in volunteer work to benefit the social causes they believe in while reducing their own student debt

“I wanted to combine a way to help alleviate our troubling debt burden and the detrimental health cycles we see daily rooted in stress while being able to help volunteer organizations who so desperately need it,” said NanaEfua B.A.M, founder and CEO of Shared Harvest Fund. “Shared Harvest Fund came from our team’s deep desire to create a meaningful side hustle that would change the discourse from not making enough to giving back and making a difference. Our approach simply starts with investing in people who do good work, so we can be the change and beauty we want to see in the world.”

For a small membership fee, volunteer users sign up for the platform, build a profile page, post their skills, social causes of interest, and start building their network. Once volunteers are paired with a nonprofit organization and complete the service, Shared Harvest Fund will award a stipend to the user and make a payment directly to the student lender in $500 denominations. Users can complete as many projects they desire, earning up to $5,000 a year max up to the maximum amount of their student loan debt.

Shared Harvest Fund benefits include:

  • Student loan debt relief
  • Student loan debt management education
  • Promoting and supporting a culture of volunteerism
  • Nurturing emotional, mental, and physical health through service
  • Building a positive community network around a shared societal burden
  • Organizations in need get the qualified help they deserve
  • Changing the culture of employee benefit packages by promoting and supporting jobs that offer student loan repayment options

B.A.M was inspired to start the company after realizing that even as established professionals, she and her husband were not able to afford to have her stay home with her newborn son because of their combined student loan burden.

Shared Harvest Fund Co-founder Briana DeCuir added, “Learning how to live a debt-free lifestyle offers the opportunity to avoid some of the emotional and physical health burdens that occur with the level of stress attributed to excessive debt.”

“In this generation, we don’t own our homes, but we have student loans equivalent to a mortgage loan. We don’t have large families and we delay starting them in pursuit of careers. Some of us have even had to care for our own parents and loved ones along the way,” DeCuir said.

B.A.M added, “Shared Harvest Fund’s ultimate mission is to offer at the minimum, $20 million in student loan repayments by 2020 all while expanding the social footprint of the educated professional population.”

Shared Harvest Fund has launched a Kickstarter campaign ( ) to seek investments to launch its platform and will start paying down the student loan debt of their subscribers as early as July 2018.

Plug and Play, which functions as a global startup ecosystem and venture fund specializing in the development of early- to-growth stage technology startups, announced the opening of a Cleveland location, in partnership with Cleveland Clinic and JumpStart Inc., focusing on Healthtech innovation.

In attendance tonight at Plug and Play Cleveland’s launch and Selection Day will be more than 25 corporate partners interested in exposure to disruptive startups in the Healthtech vertical. From a pool of 500 startups, Plug and Play and their corporate partners have invited 28 startups to present on Selection Day, where they will compete for selection in Cleveland’s Batch 1 Innovation Platform.

“It is so refreshing to have one of the biggest players in the startup and innovation platform world right here in our backyard in Silicon Valley, recognize the value of healthcare enough to add operations in Cleveland and entrench themselves and the companies with whom they work with into the Cleveland Clinic ecosystem. FundRequest and Indorse partner to Certify and Reward Open Source Developers on the Blockchain

Press Release – FundRequest, a decentralized marketplace built for open source collaboration, has announced a partnership with Indorse, a reward-based decentralized professional social network where users can control their data, to match talented and certified open source developers with available projects, bounties and jobs.

FundRequest is a decentralized marketplace that provides a unique protocol for funding open source development and collaboration. It allows anybody to fund projects across the entire open source space, accelerating growth and at the same time providing a democratic system that allows development to reflect what users really want. FundRequest ensures that contributors to open source development are financially rewarded for their work and their partnership with Indorse will bring even greater benefits.

Indorse utilizes the Ethereum blockchain to bring validity to the skills economy. Users can create a professional profile on the network and receive accreditation for their skills, abilities and employment history. Using both peer evaluation and artificial intelligence-based chatbots, the veracity of these skills is assessed and written onto the permanent, immutable public ledger.

The combination of the two systems will provide people with a legitimate professional record to showcase their Indorse profile on FundRequest while simultaneously allowing Indorse users to search for programming jobs and bounties on FundRequest.

“Partnering with Indorse is a perfect symbiotic relationship for our goals with FundRequest,” said Karel Striegel, CEO FundRequest. “We will give Indorse users access to projects and jobs in the blockchain and open source communities, meanwhile we will have access to vetted, top quality developers to work on the projects on our platform.”

The Indorse platform will create a record of all the work a developer has contributed, meaning that the community can democratically select the best developers for each project. At the same time developers are provided with a permanent record of their contributions and receive full recognition for their efforts. It’s a mutually beneficial system where Indorse users will be able to find work through FundRequest proposals, and FundRequest users will be able to use the Indorse platform to have their skills and accomplishments validated.

The collaboration will closely tie the projects together. Users will be able to display and link their Indorse profile on the FundRequest platform, and reversely show their FundRequest activity on the Indorse system. Efforts are also being made to streamline sign-up processes between the two platforms.

The partnership between the two platforms will be hugely beneficial for the open source community and also help provide skilled blockchain developers for projects that need additional talent. A developer’s contribution history recorded on the FundRequest system is verified again before being permanently written to the Indorse blockchain, providing two layers of verification and minimizing the chance of fraudulent behavior. Developers are also greatly incentivised to contribute to open source projects, not only through financial incentives, but in order to build a professional resume on the Indorse blockchain.

Businesses already registered with Indorse will be able to use the FundRequest platform for a range of services, from debugging and outsourcing development to creating bounties.

In addition, with FundRequest’s roadmap indicating integration with a broad range of services in the near future, including the home of software development, GitHub, the collaboration with Indorse will be one of the first steps in building a robust ecosystem around open source development.
