Change the World: Noise4Good Empowers Musicians and their Fans to Make an Impact

Robust New Charitable Crowd-Funding Platform Launches to Drive Awareness, Support and Action

Connection. It’s at the core of Noise4Good, the first crowd-sourcing platform to fuse two very active audiences—musical artists and their fan base—in support of the causes they are most passionate about. Noise4Good takes the power of music to move people and harnesses it to a technology that provides a solution for charities and non-profits in raising funds, engaging with donors and turning caring into action. The system, which began Phase One of its launch by registering artists and charities/non-profits on September 27, provides cross-marketing and cross-publishing capability for both groups across social media and mobile devices.

With some 1.7 million non-profits in the US, choosing the right ones is a critical part of any philanthropic endeavor. Noise4Good—unlike other crowd-sourced fundraisers—is working with Charity Navigator to ensure each organization is carefully vetted. “We are going to re-publish Charity Navigator’s evaluations of each non-profit on our site so artists and fans can check out each one,” says Noise4Good Co-Founder and CEO Kevin Patrick. “Noise4Good has a list of 3000 pre-approved, qualified charities that have been analyzed based on how they use their funds for impact.”

Noise4Good knows about choosing projects for social impact. It was one of the partner/sponsors for the Global Citizen’s Festival, a call-to-action to end poverty. The free concert in Central Park on September 27, 2014 featured artists including Jay Z, No Doubt, Carrie Underwood and The Roots with surprise appearances by Sting, Alicia Keys and Beyonce. It also provided financial support for the pivotal documentary “Beyond Right and Wrong: Stories of Injustice and Forgiveness,” a sponsor of the Social Good Summit held at the UN September 21 and 22, 2014.

The new Noise4Good technology is equipped with features such as campaign development, cross-publishing of artists’ content—songs, media, video—and the ability to integrate and reach millennial music fans across any social network. As a transactional platform, Noise4Good offers lower per donation fees than other crowd-sourced funders and the ability to transfer those funds more quickly and efficiently. It’s part of their commitment to not just donating to charity, but to change.

Acting as advocates, musicians can align with up to five charities at a time through Noise4Good, work on their projects and post messages about the importance and impact of those initiatives. The causes they support will be published on both the artists’ and non-profits’ pages. The charities can also observe which artists have a deep interest in their work. To answer questions and provide customer support, Noise4Good will also be featuring a call center on its website, a first for crowd-sourcing.

“The goal is to spur interaction on many levels,” says Patrick. “The millennial generation in particular wants content that connects with them on an emotional level but also fits with their values. So we’re promoting the concept of “from one to many,” because one artist who has 10,000 followers on Facebook inspires loyalty just as non-profits do with their supporters. Via Noise4Good, we can bring those forces together, donors/volunteers and music fans on one platform. The intent is to channel the efforts of musical influencers into a network for positive change.”

Patrick is no stranger to the intersection of music, social impact and technology. He brings to Noise4Good more than 20 years of successful experience as an entrepreneur in technology, investment, advertising, media, music and humanitarian enterprises in the public and private sectors. In 2009, he co-founded the cross-cultural outreach program ShareTheMic (STM), drawing on his background in technology and as a producer, keyboardist, composer and performer, he shared the stage with artists, such as Blondie. His passion for music and human rights has fueled several remarkable STM projects, including Sing Egyptian Women, a gender equality/human rights program where talented Egyptian women inspired self-expression across the Middle East. Working with the education and cultural affairs offices of the US State Department, Patrick brought gospel singers to a Sufi Festival in Cairo.

He is also the Founding Partner of ADI, an online streaming events company that delivered on over 2000 contracts for Fortune 500 companies such as Disney, Miramax Films, Comedy Central, Fox Sports, VIACOM, CBS, MTV Networks, Nickelodeon, FIFA, Bristol-Myers Squibb, AT&T, Delta Airlines, Sony Electronics and Red Bull, among others. Patrick is also the Founder of Impakt Holdings LLC (ICH), which structures investments into companies, organizations and funds that can generate both measurable social and and financial returns. Prior to ICH, Patrick established ShareCause Inc., developing a large portfolio of socially-minded businesses.

Following the Phase One launch of Noise4Good, the platform will introduce a second level of connectivity with merchandising, extensive data search and messaging capabilities. By tracking results, Noise4Good will gain a deeper understanding of millennial behavior, as it focuses on critical global objectives.
